Her scholarship includes The Buffalo Soldiers, A Comprehensive History (2015), contributing author, “Buffalo Soldiers, 1914-1918,” and a chapter in the forthcoming “Old Negro, New Negro: African-American Military Service in the Civil War and the Great War,” for Wars Civil and Great. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Literature from Central Missouri State University and a doctoral degree in Military History from the University of Kansas.
