Description: Tianyun Hua, Ph.D., a Global Perspectives on Society (GPS) Postdoctoral Fellow at NYU Shanghai will discuss “Fragments of War: Decolonizing First World War through Chinese Labour Corps Diaries”. Tianyun studies the subaltern diasporas of Global Asias from the nineteenth to twentieth century, with particular attention to the intersections of literature, labor, race, and the environment.

Description: Adam D. Zientek, Ph.D., will discuss his book A Thirst for Wine and War: The Intoxication of French Soldiers on the Western Front. Zientek is an associate professor of history focusing on modern Europe at the University of California-Davis. He examines how soldiers mitigated the psychological pressures of fighting by studying soldiers’ daily practices and rituals. The book studies the role that state-sponsored alcohol consumption had in affecting the French experience of the war.

Description:Todd Arrington, Ph.D., Director, Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum will discuss “Dwight D. Eisenhower: Creation of the First Tank Training School at Camp Colt, Pennsylvania”. Previously to his appointment at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum in 2024, he managed and led historic sites for the National Park Service at the James A. Garfield National Historic Site, the Homestead National Monument of America in Nebraska, and the Eisenhower National Historic Site in Pennsylvania, and other institution including Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio and Little Bighorn.
