Message from the President
Welcome to the WW1HA!
World War One was the crucible of the modern world and it altered the political, economic, military, intellectual, social, and cultural realities of several continents, culminating in a globally redrawn map which marked the end of empires and the beginning of new nation-states.
The World War I Historical Association (WW1HA) fosters an awareness of the First World War (1914-18) and its profound and lasting effects through events (members only and public) that present themes, individuals, battles, genealogy, and special groups from the conflict.
The WW1HA features a number of initiatives for members:
- Publication of our informative monthly Here and There newsletter (Members Only);
- Publication of our exceptional triannual World War One Illustrated magazine (Members Only);
- Virtual “14-18 Book Club” conversations (Members Only);
- Chapter lectures;
- Colonel Paul F. Braim Student Paper Prize;
- The Tomlinson Book Prize;
- Social media posts;
- Thematic “Fireside Chats” (Members Only);
- Quarterly book reviews on recent scholarship (Members Only);
- Acknowledgement of local communities remembrance memorials;
- Special virtual presentations (Members Only);
- Featured servicemember recipients of the Medal of Honor and Distinguished Service Cross (Members Only); and
- eStore with merchandise.
The WW1HA looks forward to presenting additional initiatives and programs that enrich the study of World War I. I encourage fellow World War I or history enthusiasts to consider a membership by visiting www.ww1ha.org.
Wishing you all the best,
Timothy C. Westcott, Ph.D.
