Len's Summary: It was Winston Churchill’s idea to make infantrymen out of surplus naval reservists and Royal Marines not assigned to ships in 1914. This division, the first of the new army divisions, saw action at Antwerp in 1914 and later fought at Gallipoli and again in Flanders finally becoming the 63rd Division as the numbers of naval personnel were depleted by battle casualties.
